Thoughts on Mending

Hello from a corner table in Cairo,

I've been thinking a lot about repair and how the word itself has a different feel than mending. I tried to write a poem about it in workshop with Marwa Helal, weaving in some calculus because it's time that I admit how much of a nerd I am. I like to write, this is my craft of choice. It's how I spent the last minutes before I fell asleep as a child, growing up and even now, fast approaching 40. (15 months to go!)

This past week has been a portal into my past, I saw a lot of people from the different phases of my life and this always leaves me in a very contemplative place. And I wonder about repair even more, about mending, about more than just a patching up of what has been torn or broken, beyond the barely working, beyond the good enough.

Some Blaqube News

I'm keeping myself busy over the summer. Cairo summers are unbearably hot. My plan for the summer is to work on my imagination for liberation framework and prep it for in-person work for the winter.

I'm dreaming up another (c)osmosis in-person gathering in the desert with my friend Katja. Meanwhile, here is where you can find me this summer:

  • Portals Imaginarium - new dates! The imaginarium is now happening in July
  • Dancing the Spiral - a somatic exploration of the spiral of the Work that Reconnects, which I'm co-hosting with Samuel Tettner, more information here. Starts on July 18th!
  • Sitting at a corner table at home or somewhere in Cairo, trying out new poetry forms
  • I'll be sharing my writing on Substack, as usual. Click here for my latest piece: To Not Throw a Shoe

I'm a Work that Reconnects facilitator, Offers + Needs Markets facilitator + an energy facilitator. I offer online workshops and in-person micro-residencies. 1:1 offerings coming soon!
